Karina's Biography:
Karina Barros is a professional singer, dancer, and performer with over 10 years of stage experience as solo artist and lead singer/performer. She has acted in Brazilian plays at the Department of Theatre at the University Anhembi Morumbi of Sao Paulo; hosted specials on South Florida’s Brazilian station TV Brazil; released several CDs of her own compositions; performed in Haiti for the president of Haiti and ambassador to Brazil; performed for John McCain at a Republican Party fundraising event; and is working with Florida Atlantic University’s commercial music director and Eminent Scholar Michael Zager on her new album. She has over 12 years of experience in classical ballet, Brazilian, Latin, Afro, Jazz, and hip hop dances; and speaks Portuguese, Spanish, and English. She graduated with honors from FAU with a bachelor of fine arts from the Department of Theatre and Dance where she performed in many productions including Bye Bye Birdie, Carousel, and a Thurber Carnival. Her professional theatre credits include The Caldwell Theatre and The Banyan Theatre’s professional production of The Clean House playing Matilde. She spent two months touring the United States with the group Core Ensemble playing Tres Vidas, a one woman play in which she portrayed three important revolutionary Latin women: Frida Kahlo (a Mexican painter), Rufina Amaya (the only survivor of a massacre in El Salvador in 1981), and Alfonsina Storni (a famous poet from Argentina who drowned herself in the sea). She hails from Sao Paulo, Brazil, and is a member of the Actor’s Equity Association.
